If you have just had your new baby or he or she will be along quite soon, then congratulations are certainly in order. This event is something that will change your life forever and things will never be the same again. Don’t worry because it is all positivity and even though there will be some difficulties along the way, it is an experience that you would never change for anything else. Becoming a new mother is both exciting and scary at the same time and especially so if you are a new mother for the first time.

You are probably already thinking about the childcare centres in Penrith and if there will be any available spaces for your baby. This is one thing that you do need to consider because these centres are incredibly popular and you have to get in early if you hope to be able to send your baby there in a few months. This is just one top tip for all the new Australian mothers out there across the area and the following are some others that you do need to know about.

  1. Leaving the hospital doesn’t have to be scary – It is reassuring to be surrounded by health professionals who know exactly what they’re doing and who can advise you best about how to take care of your new baby. The time will come however when you need to leave the hospital and this can be quite scary for many new mothers. You will be emotional but try to understand that once you get home, you will have lots of people to turn to like your immediate family and extended family members.
  2. Your baby will cry – Babies cry, it’s what they do and don’t think that you are any less of a mother if your baby cries more than normal. Babies cry for many different reasons including they might be hungry, they might have some trapped wind or it might be time to change their nappy. You should know that sometimes babies cry for absolutely no reason and it is how they actually communicate with you.
  3. Breastfeeding isn’t easy – They have professionals who will encourage you to start breastfeeding your baby as soon as possible and this is very sound advice indeed. Sometimes, babies don’t want to breastfeed and this may lead you to think that something is wrong. The important thing to know is that you can get support when it comes to difficulties getting your child to breastfeed and like everything else in life, practice makes perfect.

You should also know that you will start to feel the ‘baby blues’ but don’t worry because this is just your hormones playing up and it will pass over time. It is fantastic that you want to prioritise the well-being and health of your baby but you must first strive to take care of yourself so that you can be a better mother to your brand-new child.
